Where you register depends on which exam you need to take. Most parts are arranged through Mijn Inburgering, while the Staatsexamen NT2 runs through MijnDUO. Here's the full step-by-step for both.
Mijn Inburgering: for Reading, Listening, Writing, Speaking (A2), KNM and ONA
If you fall under the Wet inburgering 2021 and take your language exams at A2 level, or take the KNM or ONA exam, you register through Mijn Inburgering:
- Log in to Mijn Inburgering with your DigiD.
- Choose the exam part you want to register for.
- Pick a location and an available date from what the system offers you.
- Pay the exam fee: via iDEAL, or have it deducted from your DUO loan if you're required to integrate.
- You'll see the chosen date reflected in your portal right away.
MijnDUO: for the Staatsexamen NT2 Programme I (B1)
If you're on the B1-route or the education route, or want to take the Staatsexamen NT2 without being required to, for example for a course or a job, you register through MijnDUO. There too you pick an exam slot per part and pay, with the same choice between paying immediately or by invoice.
Plan for the waiting time
Register in good time. Between registering and the actual exam there can be more than six weeks, according to DUO, depending on the available slots near you. So don't wait until right before your deadline.
Paying: immediately or by invoice
You usually pay directly online via iDEAL when you register. If you'd rather not pay right away, you can choose to pay by invoice up to three weeks before your exam. If you're required to integrate, the amount is often automatically deducted from your DUO loan, so you don't have to pay anything upfront yourself.
Your summons, and changing a date
About a week before your exam, you'll get a letter or message with the exact time and location. Want to change your exam date or location? You usually can, through your portal, up to one week before the planned date. Cancel in time and you get the exam fee back; cancelling late or not showing up usually costs you the full amount.
